This watercolor painting of Stone Bridge depicts a three-arched stone bridge located on Pinkerton Road in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1883. Nearby, tourists from around the country enjoyed dining at Betty Groff's Farm Restaurant, renowed for its fine Pennsylvania Dutch cooking. Betty's chicken stoltzfus dish served over hot pastry squares was just delicious. The author of Good Earth and Country Cooking, Betty has a large following of food fanciers and has appeared on The Today Show, Good Morning, America, and scores of other local shows, as well as making many personal appearances. Today, the location is known as Groff's Farm Golf Club. Betty and her husband, Abe, and the artist are still friends and bump into each other once in awhile. Notice the stonework in the bridge and landscape - they are exact. The detail in this painting is just magnificent!
